They have the cutest piano bar! The performer was wonderful. Very engaging.
Dinner was excellent. We had the pork chop and the kansas city rib eye. The seasoning on the steak was delicious and the plantains on the pork chops were amazing!!
Service was sweet. Everyone was kind and very good.
Thanks Wilmette Chop House!

This is the real deal. It stands up to any downtown steak-house. Very accessible wine list. Service was very good though could have used a little more time between courses. The smoked pork chop was the best I have had. The piano player was very good and added a festive touch.

Our first visit to this new restaurant in our village was to celebrate an important birthday. Everything about the evening was perfect! The food was delicious! A wonderful grill flavor on the bone-in steak made it outstanding. The smoked pork chop with plantains was scrumptious, and large enough to provide leftovers for sandwiches. The staff supported those of us who chose to share food. Live piano music made the ambience enjoyable, and the noise level was just fine--we could hear each other, which is rare in many restaurants. We will definitely return, probably often as it is in walking distance from our Wilmette house.

Dined on 06/08/2013

The food was excellent and the service outstanding. The staff was very friendly and attentive. My husband can't wait to go back and try the pork chop!

Dined on 06/06/2013

A great evening. The food was bountiful, flavorful, and as well prepared and presented as in the finest steak houses we've experienced downtown. The waiter and greeter-bus girls/boy were among the best were exceptional. A great addition was the pianist- - on Thursday evening, the musician at the piano bar played a great variety of tunes from the Great American Song book, but to approachable classical repertoire. We'll be back! bjd

Dined on 06/04/2013

It was our first time here. Loved the live piano music and the intimate dining room. Chef came by every table to talk to the diners and make sure everyone was happy. Amazing meal- we started off with 2 crab appetizers (one was a battered soft-shell crab, one was a crab cocktail) and couldn't pick a favorite. I had the rack of lamb. Boyfriend had the smoked pork chop. Both were incredible...though the pork chop was absolutely amazing. It was about 1.5"-2" thick and very ham-like with a brown-sugar type glaze. Both of us left completely full and satisfied. Will definitely go back!

Dined on 06/04/2013

The food was excellent. I had the lamb chops: outstanding. My friend had the "Pork Chop": also outstanding. We both cleaned our plates. My dessert was my glass of wine, his was the planteens. The music was a nice touch.

Wilmette Chop House is great for special occasions. I took my wife and son there for Mother's Day and everyone loved it. The pinot noir was very good. We ordered items that weren't on the menu but were suggested by the waiter: lasagna and (if i remember correctly) Kansas City strip steak. The lasagna portion was very generous, and, unlike other places' lasagna, didn't just taste like salt a cheese. It was very flavorful. The we ordered the strip steak well done and were very impressed with how tender it was. The sauce it was served with was great as well. We'll definitely go back for another special occasion.

Still the one to beat. This place is the essence of shameless carnivorous indulgence in all of it's glory. It is the standard bearer against which others are judged.

Fleming's, Ruth Chris, Morton's... they are okay.. but, Wilmette Chop House is the place!

Dined on 05/04/2013

Phenomenal!!! I am usually not a meat (reds) eater but I could not resist. We ordered appetizers. Then for the main, we ordered, fish, pork chops, and a Filet. Since there were three of us, we shared each others plates to enjoy different meals.

Over all, amazing!!! Pork Chops were smoked moist and tasty, covered in plantains. The Filet (homemade rub, like no other!) melted in your mouth, the fish (Salmon) was so good.

Dined on 05/03/2013

Had dinner at this place on a Saturday night a few weeks ago. There were three of us, all middle-aged women. Service can be iffy for women at some places, but no such issue here. The service was amazing, the meal was phenomenal. Great wine list. Salad: tomatoes with fresh mozzarella, basil and balsamic vinegar, was the best I've ever had. All three of us had steaks: all were cooked correctly and were great. Sides came with meal and were wonderful. For dessert we were given gelato and we ordered sorbet: again, perfect. This place is the gold standard for steakhouses.

Dined on 05/01/2013

Fantastic- I was celebrating my birthday and they did not disappoint! Excellent service, great atmosphere and one of the best steaks I've had. Highly recommend-

Dined on 04/26/2013

The Wilmette Chop House was excellent. We had reservations and were seated immediately. The service was absolutely extraordinary. I found the Chilean Sea Bass to be outstanding. The texture of the fish and the blend of flavors were perfect. Our table shared the goat cheese and lobster cocktail. Both were remarkable. I did love the smoked pork chop as well. I can see why so many reviewers commented on it. The entire experience was delightful. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Dined on 05/15/2013

we enjoyed our visit and will bring friends with next time. there were other items on the menu I would love to try.

Dined on 05/16/2013

One of the best dinners we ever had. We were a party of 6 and everyone agreed it was the best.

Dined on 05/11/2013

This storefront in Wilmette was really amazing. Understand that this is a small restaurant with limited seating. Piano player sang also, but it was subtle enought to still be conversation friendly. The food was very good and the service leisurely. The wine list is small but adequate. Overall, it was a great experience and we cant wait to go back.

Dined on 05/10/2013

Wonderful food and service. We loved it

Dined on 05/04/2013

My wife and I dined at the Wilmette Chop House recently for the first time. It was a truly teriffic experience. Great food, great service and very friendly staff. The live piano act adds a level of energy and fun not common in suburban eateries. If you're looking for a place that won't push you out the door at 9:30PM, go here. It's the best place in Wilmette, hands down. We'll be back.

Dined on 04/26/2013

We thought the food was delicious. The rib-eye streak I had was perfect and wonderful.

There was a big party of at least 16 people which made it a little noisy. But, I also felt that the table for four was too big and that it felt hard to talk to one another without straining. It may not be possible to replace the tables with smaller ones, but that would be wonderful. Otherwise, the attention and service were lovely.Dined on 03/15/2013

This is a place worth visiting. The food & service were more than expected. Chef Rob checked on our table, just because that's what he does. He cares about his customers and makes sure everything is perfect. We enjoyed the piano player too. Perfect evening.

Dined on 04/19/2013

The caprese tower appetizer is fresh and light, and the lobster bisque is precious! The staples of a solid chop house are prepared with careful attention: the pork chops, strip steak and veal medallions -- all hearty and delicious. My sommelier friend said the wines were noteworthy and the staff was smart about good pairings. The gem is the live piano-bar music, which pulls everything together, from the great wall artwork and decor to the posh salon feel of the room, making the sounds and sights adaptable to any romantic or celebratory occasion.

Dined on 04/13/2013

Dined in a party of 7. Each of us ordered something different. We ALL enjoyed our choices. We will be back!

Dined on 04/05/2013

this place is a true gem, one of the rare places where u get good food and great service. its the service that sets each steak house apart from each other.

this place is much better than mortons, ruth chris, ej's, sullivans, flemings, wildfire...... no excuse me, mucho mucho better ....
i would say that i would go back to this joint because everything about the place was superb, no dissappointments, we were very satisfied and didn't feel we paid an inflated bill

Dined on 04/04/2013

Excellent ribeye... best my husband ever had. I had the salmon and it was delicious as well.

Dined on 03/30/2013

Went for a late night dinner. Kitchen was closed, but Chef Rob made us a great meal. The piano bar was packed! People were singing and having a great time. We couldn't help having fun!

Dined on 04/06/2013

For starters, we had the sausage and peppers, which were extremely good. I had the Wedge Salad, which is an actual wedge of an iceberg lettuce that has bleu cheese dressing all over it and then topped with bacon, diced tomatoes, and bleu cheese crumbles. It was very yummy. I selected the Filet Mignon; the meat was delicious and cooked exactly how I liked it, medium rare, charred. For a side, we had the spinach to share. The sides were a nice compliment to the meat. They also have a pretty good wine selection.

Overall this was a really nice dining experience.

Dined on 04/05/2013

We enjoyed the comfortable setting and personalized service (attentive wait staff and the chef came out and greeted customers). We had steamed mussels in white wine sauce and a hearts of palm salad to start (both good). For entrees we had the smoked pork chop (outstanding) and ahi tuna. While the dessert variety sounded good, we settled for mixed berries. After dinner we joined other diners who had gathered at the piano which was fun. The piano player took requests. We'll be back.

The Wilmette Chop House was a pleasant surprise. Our family prefers dinner at 6:00pm on Easter Sunday rather than brunch. Through OpenTable we found this wonderful little restaurant. The food was delicious - note the pork chops and the salmon. Server was attentive and informative. Decor was delightful. We even enjoyed a bit of sing-a-long time with the pianist over dessert. Everyone in our party complimented the person who selected the Wilmette Chop House. And, I'm so happy to say that was me! Easter dinner was perfect this year.

Dined on 03/21/2013

This place has brought the wonderful food, service, and swank from Chicago to the village of Wilmette. Hands down the best meal I have ever had in Wilmette. This is a wonderful place to go for any celebration, and they even have entertainment on the weekends! If you live anywhere on the North Shore, get yourself to the Wilmette Chop House!

Dined on 03/22/2013

The Wilmette Chop House is a fantastic restaurant. Great food, friendly staff, and romantic! My husband and I went for our anniversary both had the filet which was cook to perfection. I don't like green beans but they had the best tasting ones! What I liked the most is the chef stop at every table to his guests. I love to support local a restaurant with great food, great service all in Wilmette!

Dined on 03/23/2013

My wife's lobster bisque and my wedge salad were huge. I had a wedge salad the next week at a major steakhouse chain and was disappointed because of the standard Wilmette Chop House set for me. Our steaks (an NY Strip and Filet Mignon) were cooked perfectly, incredibly tender and with a substantial layer of spices crushed around the edges. For our anniversary they gave us an outstanding bite size peanut butter torte and two cannolis, as well as two chocolate martinis. My wife said she has never felt so pleasantly full. I left them the biggest tip I ever have (percentage-wise). We ended up recommending this place to my wife's parents for their anniversary and we will definitely be back.

Dined on 03/16/2013
Very attentive staff. Nice atmosphere ...piano player added ambiance...overall enjoyable and worth a visit!

Dined on 03/27/2013

After moving to Chicago three months ago, my wife and I were looking for somewhere unique and local for our anniversary, and we were incredibly happy we went to Wilmette Chop House. The dining room is very small and the location does not immediately catch the eye inside the small downtown block. But the service, food, decor, ambiance, and staff were incredible. Our anniversary was on a Tuesday, so we ended up having the whole place to our selves most of our night. The Chop House staff gave us just the right amount of pleasant attention and never over did anything. We loved the Roy Lichtenstein-inspired modern art (by Chef Rob's wife, Madonna)with the romantic lighting, and jazz and standard music.

Dined on 03/09/2013

Great experience - the food is magnificent and staff is friendly and informed. Chef Rob and his wife Madonna are wonderful hosts. Would recommend if you enjoy a great and delicious meal!

Dined on 03/08/2013

Will be back! Great little hot spot in downtown Wilmette. They made everything perfect for us.

Dined on 03/09/2013

I played their new baby grand piano for my dessert. What a concept! We had so much fun and enjoyed a great meal. Thanks Wilmette Chop House!

Dined 03/09/2013

Excellent dinner and service. The beautiful piano bar made the experience extraordinary. Will be back.

Dined on 03/06/2013

Wilmette Chophouse is a great little place tucked in the middle of town. It has a very cozy elegant flare with soothing live piano .The food is great and they make a great cocktail.

Dined on 03/09/2013

Ester Hana performed and set a great mood.

Dined on 03/09/2013

We went to hear Ester Hana at the piano bar and were rewarded with and excellent dinner and very friendly service. The smoked pork chop and sushi grade tuna were outstanding. In addition the personal involvement of the chef/owner made for a very enjoyable evening.

Simply the best steak I have ever had. I ordered the 32oz bone in rib-eye. My wife had the ahi tuna and she said it was delicious. My martini was generous for $12. My wife had the Thin Mintini and loved it. The ambiance was classy but not over-done. The paintings were beautiful. Bread pudding dessert was also the best I ever had. We will be back soon.Dined on 02/19/2013
Great food, service and atmosphere! Winner Winner Chop House Chicken Dinner!

Dined on 02/16/2013
Our experience was excellent. We all had a great steak dinner. Everything comes with sides, so there were no ala carte charges to jack up the bill. Mussels arabiatta appetizer was delicious. The bread was the best! They get it around the corner at the bakery. Martini's were a very generous pour... need I say more! We are local Wilmette Dad's and appreciate having a nice steak house in town.

Dined on 02/16/2013
A lovely quiet place to go where the service equaled only by the great steaks and chops. Try it!

Dined on 02/14/2013
I love the relaxed feel of this place - dark, small and cozy – live music was beautiful. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The lobster bisque soup was amazing and the Rob salad was refreshing. The table was delighted with the gigantic pork chop. Everyone loved the 40 oz Porterhouse, smeared with roasted garlic. Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable. Most affordable steakhouse on the North Shore.

Dined on 02/06/2013
excellent service! Nice visit from the chef, too. I had a great burger. Our friend had a massive pork chop and shared with us. Delicious!

Dined on 02/12/2013
Wow. What a nice, friendly place to be for a great steak. Wine list was small but it definitely paired well with their dishes. Service was professional. I could see why the restaurant was full. It is truly a find. I hate to even review it for fear of not getting a seat in the future :-) They are new and doing all the right things.

Dined 02/02/2013
Excellent food- everything we ate was delicious. I will be back soon.

Dined on 02/02/2013
First visit. Pork Chop was a BIG hit at our table. Learned later that we could BYO wine with a corkage charge.

Dined on 02/02/2013
Excellent! I've recently proclaimed that this is my new favorite restaurant! We split the gnocci appetizer (spinach, beans, cheesey, spicy) and then I had the special chop house chicken entree. My wife had a very generous double cut bone in smoked pork chop. We really enjoyed our meal. We will definitely be back with some friends to show off our new favorite place.

Enjoyed our dinner very much. The service is perfect. The ambiance was outstanding. We will be back. Chef Rob is very talented.

Dined on 01/26/2013
The restaurant was empty when we walked in at 6pm. At 7pm it was full and rockin. It was like a secret party in Wilmette. Everything was perfect, from the food to the friendly staff. They were definitely spot on.
Btw, we had a hard time finding it. It's a little storefront in downtown Wilmette with a red door.
(next to the old CJ Arthur's)
Very charming

Dined on 01/22/2013
I tried Chef Rob's signature Bone in Double Cut Smoked Pork Chop smothered in plantains. The dish was unique and incredibly delicious. My husband had the 32oz Bone in Rib eye that also had a unique wonderful seasoning. Prepared charred and rare, exactly as ordered. Service was fantastic. We noticed the sparkling glassware. Everything was very clean and polished. They have a cute bar in the corner that seats only 4-5 people, very intimate. We went mid-week so it was nice and quiet. Not a phoofy North Shore restaurant. Very laid back owners. They both came to the table and checked on us. Nothing over-done or over-presented. Very "real", very nice, very well done (lol). Better than expected.

Dined on 01/11/2013
I dined here on Tuesday and came back Friday night with my date. The food was incredible. I heard from other diners, on Tuesday, the Pork chop was amazing so I had to try it. It was Smoked Double Cut and HUGE!The plantains glaze over the top was a perfect compliment. Best I've ever had. My date had the filet and lobster tail. The steak was prepared exactly as ordered with a home made seasoning that was fired just right. Delicious. The lobster sweet and over-sized. The service was perfect. Roger, our server, was there when we needed him and not when we were in the throws of conversation. Chef Rob came out and checked on our meal. What a nice touch. Wine, Dinner, chocolate martinis, jazzy music, made for a perfect date night. Thanks!

Dined on 01/10/2013
We were incredibly happy with our visit. The dining room is very small but the service, food, ambiance, and staff were incredible. We loved the modern art and romantic lighting and music. Only negative was no two chair tables, and the four chair table they gave us was so wide across that we felt very far from each other. My wife's lobster bisque and my wedge salad were huge. Our steaks were cooked perfectly, incredibly tender deliciously seasoned. The desserts were wonderful as were the chocolate martinis. My wife said she has never felt so pleasantly full.

Dined on 12/31/2012
We had a group of five at the Chop House for New Year's Eve and the restaurant was buzzing and warm. We were greeted by Madonna, followed by Roger the waiter who had his hands full with lots of demanding New Year's Eve guests. The Chef made time to come to each table and make sure his creations were being consumed.

Dined on 12/31/2012
can't wait to go back and try other items on the menu.

Dined on 12/28/2012
Wilmette Chop House is an excellent place to go for dinner -- either a romantic dinner for two or a night out with friends. The ambiance is intimate, so you can enjoy your company and have a conversation. The food is outstanding -- fresh, perfectly prepared, absolutely delicious. And the service was impeccable. The staff is pleasant, attentive, and knowledgeable about the food and wine. This truly is a little gem of a restaurant in Wilmette. I highly recommend it

Overall, it's hard to find a place with really good food, reasonably quiet, friendly staff.
This place has all of those traits.

Dined on 12/12/2012
It was early on a quiet Wednesday evening. We brought our own wine. I very much enjoyed the lobster bisque I had. It was served in a large soup plate, so a very generous serving. Next time I think I will just have an entrée, as I ended up taking home most of the rib eye steak I had, which was well seasoned and done to medium rare perfection. The sautéed green beans were also done perfectly ( al dente) and the mashed boiled potatoes with skins left on were also very good. We had no room for dessert or coffee, but both were offered. I feel that the name "Chop House" may not be a smart choice, as when I think of a chop house mostly red meat comes to mind, a reason we had not tried it earlier. The menu has chicken and fish and seafood as well.

Dined on 11/30/2012
On Friday I went with some friends to Wilmette Chop House. Tonight I went to Mortons. Here is a comparison: The apps tonight at Mortons include their amazing tuna tower. AWESOME. But Friday at Chop House we had stuffed mushroom caps and amazing new spicy sausage. Hmmm. Toss up, both great. Then came in the bone in rib eye. I can't believe it, but Wilmette Chop House had thicker, tastier, bigger and better priced! Hands down winner. Morton's had great spinach side (I didn't order at Chop House) but the Chop House Steak won hands down. Then dessert: Morton's had a better port selection, and my brother had a decent cake, but the peanut butter pie at Wilmette Chop House, plus the nutella deep fried thing, plus the cake won hands down.

"Service was excellent and engaging.
Food was very good, all 4 of us enjoyed our meals.
I asked if they had a "bone in" cut of steak which they did "off menu" it was very good and perfectly cooked. My wife's Sea Bass was excellent. The kitchen was very flexible w/side orders, making an entry into an appetizer which is always a great way to endear yourself to customers. We will go back.

"A friend and I (on a whim) recently tried the Wilmette Chop House and we will definitely go back! The restaurant is warm and inviting and the service is outstanding. Chef Rob visited our table a couple of times and sent several complementary items for us to try. He is quite creative with his menu and the food was very, very good. If you have an opportunity to try the warm blueberries with balsamic over vanilla ice cream go for it! Thanks to Chef Rob and his team for turning an typical Tuesday evening into a relaxing and very enjoyable night! The Wilmette Chop House is a great neighborhood addition!

My husband and I have been here twice and have had a wonderful experience each time.  Great service from the staff and excellent food.  My husband and I both prefer our meat medium rare, and both times our steaks were cooked that way; almost more on the rare side, but that's really the way I prefer it.   We were also told at our first visit that they purchase their meat from the butcher right across the street so it sure seems fresh.   I had the fillet minon both times and the meat just melted in my mouth.  Tuesday is $5 martini night and they don't skimp on the vodka just because its cheaper that night.  The chef came out to make sure all was well with our meal.  We will return again and again and I will definitely recommend it to everyone.

08/04/2012
Lovely addition to the neighborhood. Excellent steaks, lobster bisque, ceasar salad. Decor is soothing and comfortable, yet chic. Will return often.

08/01/2012
Last night was our 3rd visit in the last month to this outstanding new restaurant. The food, the service, the wait staff and Rob and Madonna, the owners were fantastic.
Our favorite side dish is the eggplant parmesan, although the vegetables were the
best we have ever tasted, so fresh and tender. The fish is always a treat, the salmon,
coated with a brown-sugar glaze and the Chilean sea bass, delicious beyond
expectations!
We shall return.

07/24/2012
Lovely intimate neighborhood restaurant. Nice addition to the North Shore area. Upscale menu. Some outside dining as well.

07/07/2012
We thought this restaurant was GREAT! We thought the staff was very charming and we even got to meet the very talented chef. The food was great! I had the filet that was delicious. My husband had the walleyed pike that was amazing. My friends had the lobster tail and her husband had the lamb chops which they said were both outstanding. The decor is really fun and the seating was very comfortable. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone. They have quite a large selection on the menu plus specials. We look forward to a return visit very soon. They also have entertainment that was very good

07/07/2012
So excited to try this new place! Ambience is lovely -- chocolate walls, white upholstery, softly lit drum shades. Madonna (hostess & co-owner) couldn't be more delightful and gracious. She tends to her customers when the room is busy and she notices when her servers need help. Just enough selections on the menu for variety, but doesn't overwhelm. Our service was good and orders arrived in a timely manner. Nice list of wines by the glass. We had great steaks, which were properly cooked to order and the potato sides were seasoned to perfection. Chef came out of the kitchen a couple of times to say hello. All in all, the WCH is a warm and gracious dining experience. Great to have a new neighborhood spot that's not a burger joint.

05/16/2012
First visit to Wilmette Chop House and a very nice experience. Good service from the staff.   Delicious food.  Nice wine.  I think my favorite dish was the meatball starter that was topped with peas, garlic and delicious wedges of potatoes on the side.  Madonna, the owner,  stopped by the table to make sure all was well with our meal.
We would return.

Had a lovely dinner at the wilmette chop house. Food was very good and a great added addition to our community. The steaks were great and melted in your mouth. The staff couldn't have been nicer with the owner giving us complimentary deserts for my birthday. Will definitely go back.
